McDaniel's annual Academic Symposium showcases the liberal arts in action

McDaniel's Academic Symposium on Monday, April 29, includes a robust program of innovative and inspiring presentations. Throughout the day, McDaniel students, faculty, and staff showcase their original research, scholarship, and creative achievements. Plus, a keynote lunch features Assistant Professor of Biology Allison Kerwin who received a three-year National Science Foundation grant (advance registration is required).

McDaniel hosts the college's annual Academic Symposium on Monday, April 29. The daylong event from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. showcases the liberal arts in action with presentations highlighting the original research, scholarship, and creative achievements of McDaniel students, faculty, and staff.

Various academic departments are represented throughout the day, including Art, Biology, Chemistry, Communication and Cinema, Economics and Business Administration, Education, English, Environmental Studies, History, Kinesiology, Mathematics and Computer Science, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Theatre Arts, and World Languages, Literatures & Cultures, along with Graduate and Professional Studies, among others.

Plus, a keynote lunch features Allison Kerwin, assistant professor of Biology, who received a three-year National Science Foundation (NSF) grant for her research on the effects of insecticides on jellyfish development, much of which will take place on McDaniel’s campus with McDaniel students.
